Mahitahi Hauora Annual Report - 2024/2025

Message from our CEO
general practices. Through
extensive engagement and
feedback, we developed a new
Member Services Agreement to
enhance our service model. We
also strengthened our Equity for
Whānau Agreement and are now
seeing encouraging outcomes.
Over the past 12 months,
our commitment to
achieving equitable
health outcomes for
whānau in Te Tai Tokerau
has remained central to
our mahi.
We continue to address the
persistent health inequities
experienced by Māori,
ensuring our efforts contribute
meaningfully to closing that gap.
The health sector has undergone
considerable change this year,
bringing both challenges and
opportunities. These shifts
enabled us to extend advocacy
for Te Tai Tokerau, strengthen
key relationships, and maintain
visibility across forums where
Mahitahi Hauora is represented.
Looking ahead, we are focused
on improving performance across
key health indicators - particularly
immunisation. Despite ongoing
challenges with uptake in Te Tai
Tokerau, our approach remains
grounded in best practice, and
we are committed to sustained
improvement.
PSAAP negotiations this year
reflected true collaboration and
shared advocacy for general
practice. I was proud to represent
our members, particularly in
voicing challenges unique to our
region. Through strong advocacy,
rural practices particularly will

During the year, I also met with
Associate Minister of Health Matt
Doocey and Director-General
of Health Audrey Sonerson
to advocate further - not only
highlighting our challenges but
presenting opportunities for
positive impact.
This year also highlighted
sustainability concerns - both
昀椀nancial and clinical. Our
dedicated member general
practice workforce, many serving
their communities for decades,
continues to deliver with
commitment and compassion
under signi昀椀cant pressure.
We remain proud of the support
our programmes provide to both
practices and whānau. In key
areas of need, we work alongside
member general practices
through targeted initiatives,
including our Long-Term
Conditions programmes, Mental
Health Team, and the POADMS
service.

To further strengthen
communication, we launched
a Partner Update Webinar
series, which we look forward to
growing. We also bene昀椀t from the
insights of our Community Voice
Advisory Committee, ensuring
lived experience remains central
to our mahi. Another initiative
was our collaboration with
Buttabean Motivation, providing
clinical support for participants of
the From the Couch programme
in Whangārei.
I sincerely thank our member
practices for their resilience,
dedication, and continued
commitment during what has
been a demanding year. Your
determination to deliver highquality care and make a lasting
impact in the lives of your
patients is both valued and
commendable.
To the Mahitahi Hauora staff and
teams, thank you for the passion
and professionalism you bring
every day. Your support of our
member general practices is
fundamental to our collective
success.
Finally, I acknowledge the
Mahitahi Hauora Board members
for their strategic leadership
and unwavering support. Their
guidance continues to shape our
direction and drive progress.
As always, our vision for a
healthier, more equitable future
remains strong. We are proud
of what has been achieved and
optimistic about the opportunities
ahead - particularly in building a
strong, sustainable workforce for
Te Tai Tokerau.
Ngā mihi,
Jensen Webber
