Starting Well
In line with the government health targets, our focus for the Starting Well portfolio
has been improving the uptake of childhood immunisations, working towards the
national target of 95% of 24-month-olds being fully immunised.
Life-course
Immunisations
Drop-in Clinic
From August 2024 to February
2025, Mahitahi Hauora funded a
nurse-led drop-in immunisation
clinic at Commerce Street
every Thursday. The clinic
improved access to life course
immunisations for whānau unable
to attend a general practice.
Supporting Childhood
Immunisation SLMs
System Level Measures (SLMs)
for this year focus on improving
the immunisation rate of enrolled
24-month-olds, closing the
immunisation equity gap for Māori
and Paci昀椀c babies, increasing
antenatal pertussis immunisation,
and increasing newborn
enrolment.
To support the achievement
of these measures, Mahitahi
Hauora adopted a collaborative,
whānau centred approach to

working with the community,
midwives, and other health care
providers to improve antenatal
and childhood immunisations.
Our Clinical Oversight Group
provides guidance and advice to
our member general practices
to provide culturally safe, quality
care around immunisations, as
well as providing best practice
support and coordination for
pre-call, re-call and newborn
enrolment activities, and
supporting the improvement of
outreach services for high-risk
and priority populations.
