The Clinical Hub
Professional Development
The Clinical Hub provides support for Mahitahi
Hauora member general practices, including
facilitation of unenrolled patients discharged from
Hospital, to enrol with a GP Practice, and follow-up
contact of all paediatric respiratory discharges from
hospital within 48 hours of discharge.
This year, Mahitahi Hauora offered 60 training courses
to general practice teams, with 1270 attendances.
This year, the Clinical Hub provided 2744
facilitations for patients enrolled at our member
general practices. This included spirometry
(806 patients), gout stop (588 patients) and
recalling 241 patients for smear tests.
The team provided consultations for 187 unenrolled
patients and was able to support 146 patients
to enrol.
New Training Programme
for Māori Nurses
After many years of mahi, in February 2025, the new
Puawānanga Tapuhi Māori – Bachelor of Nursing
Māori programme began at NorthTec | Te Tokerau
Wānanga, Ngāwhā Campus. The aim of this kaupapa
was to increase the number of Māori nurses practising
in Tai Tokerau.
Mahitahi Hauora Board Trustee, Moe Milne, co-wrote
the curriculum, which integrates Mātauranga Māori
approaches and prepares students for Registered
Nurse status with the Nursing Council of New
Zealand.
Mahitahi Hauora Directors of Nursing, Rhoena Davis
and Angela Keung-Hobson, provided clinical advice
and feedback during the credentialling process.
