Supporting Primary Care
Strengthening Partner Relationships
In November 2024, we launched our new Partner
Update webinar series, in which our CEO Jensen
Webber provides organisational and primary health
care updates to our member general practices.
In our 昀椀rst webinar, we were joined by GPNZ Chair
Bryan Betty and CEO Maura Thompson, who spoke
about primary care advocacy happening at a national
level, and Mahitahi Hauora CEO Jensen Webber
introduced our strategic focus areas.

Our second webinar introduced changes to the way we
provide our services to our member general practices,
and about meeting the government-set immunisations
targets as set out in the System Level Measures (SLM)
objectives.
Funding Deep-dives
Early in 2025, Mahitahi Hauora piloted our new
funding deep-dive sessions with three of our member
practices. This is a free service offered to all Mahitahi
Hauora member general practices and utilises data
analysis tools and expertise to assess the 昀椀nancial
viability of a practice becoming a VLCA (Very LowCost Access) practice, help practices choose the
right services for their patients to optimise capitation
funding, ensure they claim funding for all their
activities, and discover new funding opportunities.

These sessions have been used by practices to
explore the bene昀椀ts and impacts on total patient
support available by registering patients for the High
Use Health Card (HUHC). This was done by assessing
the reduction in support from Kai Ora Vision (KOV),
Te Tai Tokerau’s version of the Care Plus Programme.
We were also able to con昀椀rm for these practices that
there are no negative impacts on patient support
when patients have both HUHCs and Community
Service Cards (CSCs).
