Mahitahi Hauora Annual Report - 2024/2025
Kai Ora Fund 2025
Kai Ora Fund partners announced
in May that a total of $182,877
in funding would be awarded to
support 45 community projects
aimed at enhancing food security
and community resilience this
year. Each project received grants
of up to $5,000. Among the
recipients, the Bristow Collective
will share ancestral practices of
hunting and kai gathering, while
the Maungaturotu Residents
Association plans to plant a
permaculture-style orchard
around the Centennial Hall.
These are just a few of the many
exciting initiatives funded.
The Kai Ora Fund partners include
Mahitahi Hauora, Whangārei
District Council, Far North
District Council, Kaipara District
Council, The Ministry of Social
Development, Te Tari Taiwhenua |
Internal Affairs, Kāinga Ora | Homes
and Communities, Healthy Families
Far North, Te Whatu Ora – National
Public Health Service Northern
Region, and Foundation North.

Mahitahi Hauora is underpinned by Te Tiriti o
Waitangi, and we work in collaboration with whānau
as well as community, primary and Māori health
providers to achieve better outcomes for all of our
Tai Tokerau communities.
Mahitahi Hauora celebrated Waitangi Day 2025
at the Treaty Grounds alongside other healthcare
providers.

Donating Blood Saves Lives
This year, Mahitahi Hauora started a group blood
giving team to support the 83* New Zealanders who
need blood or plasma every day. Mahitahi Hauora
supports kaimahi wishing to donate by scheduling
team donations during work hours.
